Kevin Carter Elegy

1994/2000, acrylic on canvas, garden hose, steel pipe, plastic funnel, 84"x114"x24" This work was based on the famous 1993 photograph by the late South African Pulitzer Prize winning photojournalist Kevin Carter, who committed suicide after receiving the coveted award, in part because of the severe criticism received for his lack of emotional involvement and help for the child dying of famine in war-torn Sudan.
